The Republicans engage in many logical fallacies, but not as many as the Democrats. The worst of them all, and the one most often practiced by the Left, is the fallacy of the false burden: “I don’t have to prove I’m right; you have to prove I’m wrong.” This assumption flies in the face of several centuries of jurisprudence, insofar as it removes the burden from the accuser and places it on the accused; however, since the Democrats and Republicans alike suffer from Never-Wrong Syndrome (a disease familiar to many of us, I’m sure), the Democrats have had a hard time actually looking at the evidence that they demanded, which the Republicans – to their credit – have eagerly supplied. If the Left were to acknowledge that the Republicans have made a convincing argument, their entire ‘we know that we’re right and we always have been’ worldview would be shaken to its core.
